HaRav Eliashiv Calls US a "Kingdom of Chessed"
By Yechiel Sever
When US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones arrived at his
home for a visit, Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita asked
the Ambassador to convey his appreciation for the US' ongoing
support of Israel, calling it a "kingdom of chessed,"
while at the same time stressing the dangers Am Yisroel faces
from its many enemies.
Historian Denies that Israel Rose Up from Ashes of
Holocaust
By Arnon Yaffeh, Paris
"Zion arose as a resurrection of the dead at the
concentration camps," said French Christian writer Francois
Mauriac after the War. This view became rooted in Europe
through the Church — which could offer no other
explanation for the return of the Jewish people to Eretz
Yisroel, a historical development that lies in conflict with
Christian thought — and through the Arabs and Jew
haters.

"The Holocaust fills us with shame. I bow my head before the
victims and all those who helped them survive," said German
Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday, during a special Knesset
plenum meeting held in honor of her visit.
OPINION &
COMMENT
That Hashem Should Have Delight in Them
From a droshoh delivered by one of the talmidim on
twentieth yahrtzeit of HaRav Yechezkel Levenstein of Ponovezh
and Mir. They refer to the remarks of the Mashgiach on the
last Shushan Purim of his life, which fell on Shabbos as it
does this year.
Although we, and everyone else who was fortunate enough to
know and to hear him, have such a massive fund of inspiration
to relive, and although there is also so much that needs to
be transmitted to the younger generation who only know him
through the spoken and the printed word, it is nevertheless
correct to pick on just one of the fundamentals [of his
teachings, something which is as neglected as it is
important.
